Our versatile Reusable Face Mask with Valve & Filter is perfect for general protection and outdoor activities. This comfortable lightweight face covering is made with soft cotton fabric and filters airborne particles, protects your skin from the weather and looks great. We also have a Neck Gaiter with Filter Pocket available.
Featuring a special filter pocket, the fabric is double layered around the nose and mouth providing a level of protection consistent with CDC recommendations. The lined filter pocket insert has been designed to house a special 5 layer replaceable filter that traps bacteria, pollutants, and common allergens.
Our replacement filters feature a 5-layered design for optimal protection. At the core, an activated carbon filter is contained between 2 layers of high efficiency melt blown filter material and an extra layer of non-adhesive filter fabric on each outermost section. Care Instructions
Hand wash in warm water (recommended) or cold machine wash on delicate cycle. Lay flat to air dry for best results. Do not machine dry. Do not iron.
We recommend replacing the filters regularly for best performance. If used daily, we recommend changing the filter at least twice or more a week. However this is just a guide and may vary depending on the local air quality and conditions. In general, if you notice reduced airflow or discoloration it’s time to replace the filter.
Air Pollution the Silent Killer
Ambient (outdoor) air pollution in both cities and rural areas was estimated to cause 4.2 million premature deaths worldwide per year in 2016. This mortality is due to exposure to small particulate matter of 2.5 microns or less in diameter (PM2.5), which cause cardiovascular and respiratory disease, and cancers.
What is Particulate Matter (PM)?
PM is a common proxy indicator for air pollution. It affects more people than any other pollutant. The major components of PM are sulfate, nitrates, ammonia, sodium chloride, black carbon, mineral dust and water. It consists of a complex mixture of solid and liquid particles of organic and inorganic substances suspended in the air.
While particles with a diameter of 10 microns or less, (≤ PM10) can penetrate and lodge deep inside the lungs, the even more health-damaging particles are those with a diameter of 2.5 microns or less, (≤ PM2.5). PM2.5 can penetrate the lung barrier and enter the blood system. Chronic exposure to particles contributes to the risk of developing cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, as well as of lung cancer.
